Skipping to the Sweet Stuff

One of my favorite date ideas is to do a dessert only date. I think that there is a romantic quality to just ordering dessert and sharing it with each other. It often ends with great conversation and a flirty fork battle over the last bite. I have tried and enjoyed all of the places reviewed below. This week I’m giving you my top four places to order just dessert in Seattle.

  1.  Dahlia Lounge: In the mood for something delicious made by a famous Seattle chef? Me too! This infamous Tom Douglas restaurant has some of the best dessert around combined with an inherently romantic setting. The lighting is warm and dim creating a comfortable atmosphere. I love ordering the homemade doughnuts. They are seriously the best in town, and come with homemade raspberry jam. Watch out though, they are so good you might end up ordering more than one order! Another favorite of mine is the coconut cream pie. It is the special of the bakery and is truly rich and delicious. I would recommend making reservations ahead of time, especially on the weekends when it is notoriously busy. For more information go to: http://tomdouglas.com/index.php?page=dahlia-lounge
  2. Café Campagne: Nestled in Post Alley with a European style outdoor eating patio Café Campagne’s atmosphere is almost as good as the cuisine. The interior is incredibly charming and the food is so delicious if you closed your eyes you might think you were in Paris. The crème brule is enjoyable and incredibly difficult to cook at home making it all the more French. I always look forward to testing out my French skills and my best (or worst) French accent here. 3.  Caffe Umbria: This is a beautiful Italian coffee house in Pioneer Square. Set off the main road on a wide cobblestone street with tall leafy trees it feels like a piece of Europe. A wide selection of Italian pastries will greet you from behind the glass case, but the real treat at Caffe Umbria is the wide selection of gelato. The gelato is my favorite in the city, and enjoying it on the patio outside makes it even better. Looking out the wide front windows with a gelato and an imported magazine from their magazine is so relaxing it feels like a vacation from reality. If people watching and a very leisurely atmosphere strikes your fancy, go to: http://www.caffeumbria.com/v2/seattlecafe.html
  4. Le Belle Epicurean: A true French patisserie, the Belle Epicurean is sure to enchant. The glass cases are filled with beautiful French pastries. The range of tantalizing pastries makes it incredibly difficult to pick just one. The chocolate hazelnut croissant is a delicious option as well as the award winning macarons. However, anything from here is amazing. The Madison Park location sits right on the edge of the park and is very chic. If it becomes too crowded you could always eat your pastries as you stroll through the park. For more information go to: http://www.belleepicurean.com/
